Friday Afternoon Music - Adele

This afternoon in the shop, did I mention we have a shop?, we are listening to Adele courtesy of the lovely Annie from Habbot Studios. I think I may be the only person in the world to have missed the Adele phenomenon but I am making up for it now. Helped along with a glass of champagne this is shaping up to be quite a gorgeous Friday afternoon.

Chop Chop

As you probably know I am a huge fan of costume jewellery, this quirky half a pair of scissors is form Austrlian/German duo Antlitz Design. I coveted this necklace for a long time in Lily and the Weasel and my family kept hearing about it. Thanks for the gorgeous pressie family! I have been wearing it with a piece of coral from a cute little shop on the Ponte Vecchio, I love the mix of materials and colours.

Russian Winter Inspiration

I am so eager for Winter to kick in that I have been looking for some (more) wardrobe inspiration and came across the Matryoshka dolls made designers for Russian Vogue's 10th birthday issue. This one is by Alena Akhmadullina , I have always been a fan of head scarves and am now pretty sure that I will not be able to get through winter without a feather cape.

Seven Henrietta Street

To celebrate the opening of her UK pop up shop this sweet little video was shot in the Covent Garden Georgian house that housed the shop. This has a gorgeous feel and beautiful summer colours made all the better by the great song by SoKo.

Gangs of New York

This amazing  editorial shot by Mario Testino and styled by Grace Coddington has just appeared in the February edition of US Vogue. The fashion is beautiful but the styling really brings it to life.

Classic Christmas Jewellery

This is fantastic! I just received the greatest Christmas present from a friend, the lovely Sue from Lily and the Weasel. The Hypnum cupressiforme faux ring is from a fabulous company called adornjewelry.
The blurb that comes with the ring is particularly fabulous - Proper lighting and watering are usually the most important criteria for the health of a plant. When it comes to your faux moss jewelry, this extra care is not necessary. Clear instructions and a spare piece of faux moss in case anything goes wrong, what more could you want in an accessory?

You can grab one of these rings on the adornjewelry etsy shop.

A Conversation with Akira Isogawa

While I didn't manage to have a personal conversation with Akira Isogawa I did have the pleasure of hearing Akira and Robyn Healy in conversation last week.
Not quite an interview, but more an informal conversation between Akira and Robyn, it was inspiring to hear Akira talk about his career, techniques and motivations in such a relaxed and personal way. While he made no bones about how tough fashion can be Akira truly seemed to revel in the joy of making clothes and was thrilled to pull out beading samples for his upcoming collection and explain to a wrapped audience exactly how the were created.

Not a 'classic' Akira but I have always loved the colour and drape of this dress.

Boutiques.com....A new addiction

I have been hearing about Googles Boutiques.com it for a while and I've just managed to get around to having a look and now I am completely addicted. It's like having personal shopper in my lounge room.

Here are two of my favourite picks, an
Alexander McQueen dress and Fendi boots, both on the pricey side but so it tempting when you can click straight through to purchase them. This addiction could be be the ruin of me.

I have been filling my own boutique with my wish list, if only I could magic it all into my wardrobe.

Racing

The Sarah Conners Team flew the coop on Thursday and headed for the race track. We spent a gorgeous day with Deborah from Redbox7 drinking champagne and enjoying the glamour of Melbourne races.
Here a sneak peak at one of the new Sarah Conners clutches. This one isn't actually available until February - that's the perk of having my desk so close to the sample cupboard.
Here is Deborah, looking amazing in a Redbox7 dress and I enjoying the day. I have to thank Serena Lindeman for my stunning hat, she pulled this together after only looking at my dress for a second and declaring "I know exactly what you need"....and she did.

The wash up at the end of the day, an empty champagne glass and lots of betting slips, none of them winners. Thanks again everyone for such a great day of racing.

Distraction

I have been completely distracted from work today by my new Angus & Celeste ring. On their website these Melbourne designers say that these porcelain rings are designed to make you smile, mines been making me smile all day and I love the ring with school uniform grey nail polish.
Now I have my eye on this one....
