From the Stylist: Festive Style

Whether it’s a work Christmas function, summer cocktails on a city rooftop or a laid back Sunday beer garden session, it’s the season to be jolly. And with temperatures rising, it’s time to start thinking about your festive season wardrobe.

With all the options available, it’s hard to know where to start when choosing the appropriate outfit. Keep in mind the company you’ll be keeping and the purpose for the celebration. If it’s a work function, dress in a way which still presents a professional image, yet is in keeping with a fun, festive occasion.

How to wear it-
If you work in a conservative environment, then be mindful of things like skirt and dress length, cleavage and over exposure.  And if you do decide to show some skin, choose your legs or your bust, not both. Also, you’ll probably be busy with drink in one hand, canapés in the other, so choose a clutch or handbag that you can throw over your wrist or shoulder to keep your hands free to indulge in the festive spirit.

Sarah Conners @ New Zealand Fashion Week

New Zealand Fashion Week featured one of our favourite New Zealand designers Andrea Moore. The label is known for classic designs and bold colours, this season they showed elegant pieces in the most beautiful jewel tones. We were thrilled to have some of  our belts featured in what was a stunning show.

A Quick Break

We are heading off to Sydney at the end of the week for Fashion Exposed but took a break from pavking and organising to grab a glass of wine, or two, and some sustenance at Cookie tonight. The gorgeous Eva from Danish label Rabens Saloner joined us while she is enjoying a stopover in Melbourne on her way too Sydney. See you at the show!

A Conversation with Akira Isogawa

While I didn't manage to have a personal conversation with Akira Isogawa I did have the pleasure of hearing Akira and Robyn Healy in conversation last week.
Not quite an interview, but more an informal conversation between Akira and Robyn, it was inspiring to hear Akira talk about his career, techniques and motivations in such a relaxed and personal way. While he made no bones about how tough fashion can be Akira truly seemed to revel in the joy of making clothes and was thrilled to pull out beading samples for his upcoming collection and explain to a wrapped audience exactly how the were created.

Not a 'classic' Akira but I have always loved the colour and drape of this dress.

Brumby's Babes

This week we were asked to be part of a fundraising event held by Brumby's Babes, the Babes are a fantastic group of women raising money for Cancer Research. It was great to be part of the glamorous event that was held at Moonee Valley Racecourse and help them raise some more money for a great cause. They also had the fantastc theme "Life's too short to wear ordinary clothes"......couldn't agree more.
