STYLE NOTES - A spring in your step

The Fabulous Sally Mackinnon from Styled by Sally is back on board and ready to give us some very stylish tips for Spring.
A SPRING IN YOUR STEP
We’re well into the new season and as the weather starts to slowly warm, so does our desire to change up our personal style and embrace the new season trends. This Spring it’s all about colour, or perhaps lack thereof.
In a previous blog post, I talked about the black and white look and it would seem that this trend is continuing throughout spring/summer. The update however is teaming print on print. This can be the same print head to toe or clashing your monochrome prints.

How to wear it-
There are a few key pieces in black and white that will help you put together this look. A comfortable, relaxed wardrobe staple is the black silk pant, pictured here from Skin and Threads. Perfect for day or night, with heels or flats, these pants will provide you with endless options throughout the season. Team with an embroidered tank and pair of strappy sandals for a relaxed daytime look, or dress it up for a night on the town with a geometric striped bustier and heels. And your shoe choice is not limited to black. Mix it up with a black and white pattern or textured leather like snakeskin or pony hair or for a point of different, go for a pop of colour like Zoe Saldana.
A black and white striped tee is an absolute wardrobe essential, which will get you lots of mileage for this look. The trend this season is to go a little oversized, rather than tight and clingy.
The key to clashing your black and white is to differentiate between print and size. For example if the print on your upper body is strong and bold, keep the lower half print small and less powerful. Horizontal stripes are an easy one to try this look; they work well with a geometric print or a floral. And if you’re really brave, why not go print all the way!
